Final Reflection

Hello everyone. Today i am writing about my final reflection of what i have did for the past few days during the Personal Development class. There are several things that was done in the past few days and they are the creating a blog, managing the blog, biography, reflection 1, my goal, my learning style, people who inspired me, S.W.O.T, my personality test, smart goal setting and my action plan. However, only some of the things that was listed above would be talked about in this post.

The first thing i am writing about in this post is the group discussion. The group discussion is also known as the reflection 1. In this group discussion, we have learned about the Taylors' Graduate Capabilities (TGC). There were a few elements of the TGC, but we had focused on two of the main elements; "communication skills" and "thinking and problem solving skills". During this discussion, we had great teamwork skills as each and every one of us had contributed ideas to completing this discussion. Together, we were able to come up with the importance of these skills in our lives and identifying the problems of these skills in us and how are we able to overcome the problem.

Besides reflection 1, the second thing i am writing about is the S.W.O.T analysis. S.W.O.T stands for Strengths (S), Weaknesses (W), Opportunities (O), and Threats (T). In this activity, we were asked to identify our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. This is significant as our future career would depend a lot on these elements. As my future career is to be a lawyer, i should rectify my strengths and acknowledge my weaknesses, as strengths would lead to opportunities and weaknesses would lead to threats. To be successful in my career and life, i should be maximizing my strengths and minimizing my weaknesses. However, in order to maximize my strengths and minimize my weaknesses, i have to first identify them and sort them out clearly. In my opinion, this lesson was very productive and informative. After attending this lesson, i know better the importance of identifying my S,W,O and T.

The third thing i am writing about is setting up a SMART goal. Before identifying the SMART elements, the first thing i need to do is to have a target in life. After having a target in life (becoming a lawyer), then only we should start setting up a SMART goal. SMART stands for Specific (S), Measurable (M), Attainable (A), Relevant (R), and Time-Bound (T). In this activity, we were taught by the lecturer the elements of SMART, so that we would understand how do we form each of the elements. Through this lecture, i understood better the importance of having a target in life, as well as how am i going to achieve my target.

The next thing i am writing about is drawing the action plan. This action plan is formed based on the SMART goal. The reason why there is a need for this action plan is to ensure that we would be able to carry out the plans to achieve the target/goal. Without an action plan, it is fairly impossible for someone to reach their goals. Hence, an action plan guides us towards our success. First of all, we have to identify the MAIN goal that we would like to focus on. How do we know whether what is our main goal in life? Easy. All we need to do is know what do we want to be in the future; our careers. As for me, i would like to be a lawyer, thus, my main goal is to get a degree in law. The next most important thing we have to do is to identify the obstacles that we might face in life. With all these obstacles, it is going to be hard to achieve our goals. However, there is a solution, which is coming up with solutions/answers to overcome these obstacles. By attending this lecture, i was able to learn the significance of drawing an action plan as it plays a huge role in guiding us to our targets.

Besides that, i have learned about my learning style in these few days. I had done two learning style tests. In these learning style test, i had successfully identified my TRUE learning style. After doing the learning style test, it had concluded that my learning style was kinaesthetic style of learning. I do agree with the learning style test, because i am a type of person who needs to "do to learn". Thus, it is justified that this learning style test is a reliable test to identify a person's learning style. It was important for me to attend this lecture as it helped me to identify my learning style, so that i would be able to follow my learning style in my university life.

In these few days, we were taught a lot of things by the lecturer. However, there is one thing that had captured my attention the most; which was creating a blog. We were taught how to create a blog in the lecture. This blog of ours were used to publish our works/assignments for our lecturer to check. This is an interesting way of submitting our works as we also get to understand how does a blog work better.

As a conclusion, all the lectures in these few days were very informative. These lectures were very significant for us to be a successful person in life. After going through these lectures, i had realized how important it was for me to set a goal and achieve it in life.

Action Plan

For now, i would like to focus on a goal in my life so that i can achieve it. This goal of mine is to be able to achieve a good grade for all the subjects i took in my studies. There would be several positive outcomes if i work hard on this goal. An example of a positive outcome is i would be eligible to apply for the top law firms as my future career would be a lawyer. This goal is important for me to achieve because it would help me to be a successful person in life in the future.

However, only by setting a goal does not help me to achieve my goal. In order to achieve my goal, i have to establish attainable action steps. Firstly, i would like to be accepted into one of the top universities that offers the "law" subject. Next, i would then study hard and ensure that my grades are consistently excellent. In order to achieve excellent grades consistently, i have to attend every lectures and pay attention when the lecturers are lecturing. This would help me to be able to score for my final examinations; resulting in excellent grades for all my subjects. After completing my studies, i would then try to apply for top law firms to seek for a job opportunity.

There are several support networks for this particular goal i have set. The first support that i would be able to get is by my parents. This is because they worked hard to ensure that i will not have problems financially in furthering my studies as a lawyer. Secondly, the lecturers would be a good support network. This is significant as they would be able to guide me through my university life and provide me with knowledge regarding the subject the lecturer teaches. Another support network to ensure that i achieve this goal is my friends. It is fairly important to pick the correct group of friends. This is because friends would be the one by our side all the time whenever we are in need of help.

However, there would be several obstacles that i would face before i achieve this goal of mine. An example of obstacle that i would face is memorizing the law book. This is because i have only an average memorizing skill. Hence, it would be an obstacle for me to memorize the information needed.

In order to be able to overcome this obstacle, there are a few things i need to do. One of the things i need to do is to practice my memorizing skills by doing memorizing practices often. After practicing my memorizing skills for a period of time, i am sure i would be able to overcome this problem and achieve my goal.

SMART goal setting

My target: Become a lawyer

S: I want to increase my Legal Studies grade from B to A.
M: I want to improve my speed of completing the Legal Studies exam paper by 30 minutes.
A: I will do Legal Studies' past year papers daily so that i can improve my grade.
R: My goal is to be able to score for Legal Studies so that i would be able to be a lawyer.
T: My goal is to be able to become a lawyer right after i completed my degree in university.

My Personality Test

According to the personality test, my personality type is CONSUL (ESFJ-A).
I am a extraverted, observant, feeling, judging and assertive person.
Below are the results obtained from the personality test:

As a conclusion, I agree with the personality test. This is because the results obtained can be used go describe my personality perfectly.

People Who Inspired Me

In my life, there have been a few people who have inspired me. These people are the world's most influential people and they have inspired many other people in the world besides me.

The first person who have inspired me is the current President of the United States, President Barack Obama. This is because he had shown that black people's lives indeed do matter too. President Obama had inspired a lot of black skinned people in the world to be courageous and helped them to feel important in life too. Besides that, he is a great leader of the United States. Ever since he stepped up and took the honour to be the President of the United States, the country had been growing magnificently. Not only he is an inspiration to ordinary men and women around the world, he is also a role model to many politicians as well as the leaders of a country in the world. The reason why he inspired me is because he showed that no matter what colour the skin of a person is, what matters is unity. Without unity, there will not be true harmony.

" Your voice can change the world. "
- Barack Obama

Another person who have inspired me in my life would be Bill Gates. He change the world through technological innovation, keen business strategy and aggressive business tactics, and by charities, he have donated a sum of $36 billion dollars till now. He dropped out of Harvards so that he and his partner can continue developing the world's largest software, Microsoft. Until today, 90% of the computers in the world uses Microsoft's software. He had inspired me by becoming one of the world's most successful entrepreneur after dropping out from one of the world's top university.

" If you are born poor, it's not your mistake. But if you die poor, it is your mistake"
- Bill Gates

My Learning Style

Recently, I had completed a Learning Style Test on http://www.brainboxx.co.uk/a3_aspects/pages/vak_quest.htm

According to the Learning Style Test, it had concluded that I am a Kinaesthetic Learner. This conclusion was achieved by completing the Learning Style Test and counting the number of PURPLE COLOUR buttons. These purple colour buttons represents Kinaesthetic Learner.

After taking this test, we were then asked to watch a video on YouTube titled " Identify Your Learning Style ". (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tEpdFL1gYX0)
In this test, it had been concluded that I am indeed a Kinaesthetic Learner as I find the Kinaesthetic wah of learning is the easiest way to learn.

Below is the result obtained from test 2.

As a conclusion, I agree that I am indeed a Kinaesthetic Learner based on both the tests that I have done. This is because I find it easier to learn while " doing " it.
