Final Reflection

Hello everyone. Today i am writing about my final reflection of what i have did for the past few days during the Personal Development class. There are several things that was done in the past few days and they are the creating a blog, managing the blog, biography, reflection 1, my goal, my learning style, people who inspired me, S.W.O.T, my personality test, smart goal setting and my action plan. However, only some of the things that was listed above would be talked about in this post.

The first thing i am writing about in this post is the group discussion. The group discussion is also known as the reflection 1. In this group discussion, we have learned about the Taylors' Graduate Capabilities (TGC). There were a few elements of the TGC, but we had focused on two of the main elements; "communication skills" and "thinking and problem solving skills". During this discussion, we had great teamwork skills as each and every one of us had contributed ideas to completing this discussion. Together, we were able to come up with the importance of these skills in our lives and identifying the problems of these skills in us and how are we able to overcome the problem.

Besides reflection 1, the second thing i am writing about is the S.W.O.T analysis. S.W.O.T stands for Strengths (S), Weaknesses (W), Opportunities (O), and Threats (T). In this activity, we were asked to identify our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. This is significant as our future career would depend a lot on these elements. As my future career is to be a lawyer, i should rectify my strengths and acknowledge my weaknesses, as strengths would lead to opportunities and weaknesses would lead to threats. To be successful in my career and life, i should be maximizing my strengths and minimizing my weaknesses. However, in order to maximize my strengths and minimize my weaknesses, i have to first identify them and sort them out clearly. In my opinion, this lesson was very productive and informative. After attending this lesson, i know better the importance of identifying my S,W,O and T.

The third thing i am writing about is setting up a SMART goal. Before identifying the SMART elements, the first thing i need to do is to have a target in life. After having a target in life (becoming a lawyer), then only we should start setting up a SMART goal. SMART stands for Specific (S), Measurable (M), Attainable (A), Relevant (R), and Time-Bound (T). In this activity, we were taught by the lecturer the elements of SMART, so that we would understand how do we form each of the elements. Through this lecture, i understood better the importance of having a target in life, as well as how am i going to achieve my target.

The next thing i am writing about is drawing the action plan. This action plan is formed based on the SMART goal. The reason why there is a need for this action plan is to ensure that we would be able to carry out the plans to achieve the target/goal. Without an action plan, it is fairly impossible for someone to reach their goals. Hence, an action plan guides us towards our success. First of all, we have to identify the MAIN goal that we would like to focus on. How do we know whether what is our main goal in life? Easy. All we need to do is know what do we want to be in the future; our careers. As for me, i would like to be a lawyer, thus, my main goal is to get a degree in law. The next most important thing we have to do is to identify the obstacles that we might face in life. With all these obstacles, it is going to be hard to achieve our goals. However, there is a solution, which is coming up with solutions/answers to overcome these obstacles. By attending this lecture, i was able to learn the significance of drawing an action plan as it plays a huge role in guiding us to our targets.

Besides that, i have learned about my learning style in these few days. I had done two learning style tests. In these learning style test, i had successfully identified my TRUE learning style. After doing the learning style test, it had concluded that my learning style was kinaesthetic style of learning. I do agree with the learning style test, because i am a type of person who needs to "do to learn". Thus, it is justified that this learning style test is a reliable test to identify a person's learning style. It was important for me to attend this lecture as it helped me to identify my learning style, so that i would be able to follow my learning style in my university life.

In these few days, we were taught a lot of things by the lecturer. However, there is one thing that had captured my attention the most; which was creating a blog. We were taught how to create a blog in the lecture. This blog of ours were used to publish our works/assignments for our lecturer to check. This is an interesting way of submitting our works as we also get to understand how does a blog work better.

As a conclusion, all the lectures in these few days were very informative. These lectures were very significant for us to be a successful person in life. After going through these lectures, i had realized how important it was for me to set a goal and achieve it in life.
