Describe & Interpret

The activity/assignment that was carried out by the group of us was group discussion and presentation. In this activity, there were several elements of the Taylors’ Graduate Capabilities that were fulfilled by us. An example of the Taylors’ Graduate Capabilities that was fulfilled by us was “Communication Skills”. We had participate several types of communication activities; such as consultations, discussions, presentations as well as campaigns. During consultation hours, we were required to communicate with our respective lecturers regarding our respective subjects. As for discussions, we were required to communicate with our classmates to come up with solutions and ideas to ensure that the discussion is beneficial. Furthermore, in formal presentations, we were required to communicate with our respective lecturers as well as our classmates to provide them with information regarding the topic we were presenting. Moreover, in the legal awareness campaign and the economics campaign, we were required to communicate with all the students of Taylors’ College Subang Jaya as well as the lecturers to provide them with different information regarding the subject we were presenting in the campaign.

The second Taylors’ Graduate Capability that was fulfilled by us was the “Thinking and Problem Solving Skills”. In this element, we were required to critically think and solve our problems that we face while studying in this course; South Australian Matriculation. In this course, we were given several folio tasks to be completed. In these folio tasks, there were little help given by the lecturers. Hence, we were required to critically think, analyze and solve our problems mostly by ourselves. This is a very good way to train our thinking and problem solving skills.

Evaluate

It is indeed significant to have these skills in our lives. This is because it helps us with our university admissions, future professions as well as our lives. In terms of the Communication Skills element, it gives us a boost and strength in our confidence level. This is because we are required to be able to communicate well in order to perform well in university life. Furthermore, it is justified that universities’ interviews requires the students to be able to communicate well. As for future profession, good communication skills lead us to being a more successful person in life. It has also been justified that employees seek for employers who have good communication skills in them. Hence, having good communication skills would help us to seek for a job easier.

  However, there are several improvements needed to ensure these skills are upheld in our lives. First of all, we need to participate more communication activities. This is because it would boost our confidence level and ensure that we would be able to communicate fluently without fear. For example, we should participate more public speaking events or presentations. Next, we should often seek for help from the people around us to improve our problem solving skills. This is to help us to get more information from different perspectives. For example, we should not be afraid to ask around for help if we need help to solve our problems.

            In conclusion, these activities have provided us with different knowledge and experience. These activities help us to improve our communication skills as well as thinking and problem solving skills. These skills would then assist us in our future studies/careers that are far complex than a study environment.
